- Brass: Trumpet
Greg Foertter studied trumpet at the Manhattan School of Music and the University of Miami Frost School of Music, and Music Literature and Ear Training at the Julliard School. His teachers include David Kuehn, Charles Lirette, William Vacchiano, Melvin Broiles, Robert Nagel, and Gilbert Johnson. He performed with US Army Bands for 24 years, with opera and musical theater companies, and with the Guy Lombardo Orchestra on tour.
With a Master’s degree in music education, he taught middle school band and chorus, and general music from pre-school to 5th grade. His music compositions include one hundred children’s songs copyrighted with the Library of Congress, and ensemble works for winds, brass, and strings. In 2016 he conducted the premier of his composition for Wind Dectet with members of the Oak Ridge Community Band. He currently plays trumpet with the Community Band and Oak Ridge Philharmonia, and serves as President of the Music Arts Board of Directors.
